A handsome Victorian edition of The Heavens: An Illustrated Handbook of Popular Astronomy by Amédée Guillemin, edited by J. Norman Lockyer and revised by Richard A. Proctor. Published in London by Richard Bentley & Son in 1878, this is the entirely new and revised seventh edition.

Beautifully bound in warm tan leather with gilt decorative bands and lettering to the spine, red page edges, and a refined gilt border to the boards. The volume is illustrated throughout with striking astronomical engravings and diagrams, including a large folding pull-out plate of the solar system. The pages are clean and the binding is tight, with only light, age-appropriate wear to the leather.

Condition: Very good condition. Tight binding, clean pages, red edges, numerous illustrations, and one folding pull-out plate present.
