Joseph C. Hutchison’s The Laws of Health is a richly illustrated Victorian-era guide to physiology and hygiene, prepared for educational institutions and general readers. Written for grammar-grade students, it covers the framework of the body, muscles, skin, food and drink, digestion, circulation, respiration, the nervous system, the senses, and the voice. The book also reflects 19th-century teaching about stimulants and narcotics.

Published in New York by Clark & Maynard in 1884, this 223-page volume features a decorative green cloth binding with black-stamped designs and numerous illustrations, including anatomical figures and diagrams. 

Binding tight. Light wear and rubbing to binding. Frontispiece with tissue guard. The pages show light toning. One pg(pg15) with 2” tear but page intact.
