A beautifully preserved 1914 edition of The Gamekeeper at Home by Richard Jefferies which is richly illustrated by Charles Whymper. In a full dark green leather prize binding from Weymouth College, England. This volume features elaborate gilt decoration to the spine and boards, marbled endpapers, marbled page edges, gilt-ruled turn-ins, and numerous detailed black-and-white illustrations throughout depicting English rural life, wildlife, gamekeeping, dogs, pheasants, woodlands, and countryside scenes.
Originally published as a series of sketches on English rural and sporting life, Jefferies’ work captures the atmosphere of the late Victorian countryside with detail. The illustrations by Charles Whymper provide a visually engaging work of natural history and sporting literature.
