Rose in Bloom: A Sequel to “Eight Cousins” by Louisa May Alcott. Published in Boston by Little, Brown, and Company in 1922.

First published in 1876, Rose in Bloom continues the story of Rose Campbell as she returns home following several years abroad. Rose must navigate family expectations, courtship, friendship, personal independence, and the question of how best to use her wealth and position. Alcott’s heroine gradually discovers her own values and purpose while deciding what—and whom—will bring genuine happiness to her life.

This lovely 1922 edition is bound in warm brown publisher’s cloth with an elegant black-and-gilt floral design extending across the front board and spine. The spine features gilt title and author panels, ornamental bands, a central quatrefoil device, trailing roses, and the intertwined initials “LBA.” 

Binding tight and pages clean. The cloth shows light rubbing and modest wear at the corners and spine ends, consistent with age. A neatly written gift inscription dated December 25, 1924, appears on the front free endpaper. Overall, a beautifully preserved decorative edition of one of Alcott’s best-loved novels.
