Antiquarian Scrapbook / Friendship Album
A very beautiful piece which either belonged or was in remembrance of Sallie Allen.
Included are four stunning hand-painted floral illustrations/paintings along with verse and notations of friendship and remembrance of what is addressed to Sallie. One of these letters written to Sallie remarks on a life ended to early.
These written pages dated in the mid-1800s and end ~1920. One page is a handwritten page of Lincoln’s speech on the battlefield of Gettysburg from Nov,19,1863. Near the end of this album are two pages with verse/ writings on the loss of lives with the demise of the Titanic(1912).
Annotation on several pages written in pencil which appear to be from a family member many years later.
