Alfred Lord Tennyson (1809–1892) was a British poet and one of the most celebrated figures of the Victorian era. Appointed Poet Laureate in 1850, he gained widespread acclaim for works such as In Memoriam A.H.H., The Charge of the Light Brigade, and Idylls of the King, a poetic retelling of Arthurian legends. His poetry, known for its lyrical beauty and deep emotional resonance, explored themes of love, loss, heroism, and the passage of time. Tennyson’s mastery of verse and ability to capture the spirit of his age secured his legacy as one of England’s greatest poets.
