A stunning mid-19th century French historical work, Charles VI: Les Armagnacs et Les Bourguignons, by M. Todière, published in 1848 by A. Mame et Cie, Tours. This volume chronicles the turbulent reign of King Charles VI of France and the fierce conflict between the Armagnacs and the Burgundians.

In an exquisite decorative textured cloth binding in deep navy/midnight black with elaborate gilt-designs: the front board features an ornate coat of arms beneath a coronet, while the back board displays an intricate gilt urn motif. The richly decorated spine carries matching gilt ornamentation, with the title and publisher elegantly framed in scrollwork.

Light rubbing to top corners/ front spine edges. Binding tight and sound. Pages clean. With some scattered foxing.

Inside, the volume is illustrated with finely engraved plates depicting key historical scenes, each protected by a tissue guard. The engravings vividly capture the drama of medieval France, from grand processions to moments of battle and intrigue.
