First Series, Large Paper Edition (Revised)

A striking custom rebound 1859 edition of The Wild Flowers of England; or Favourite Field Flowers Popularly Described by the Rev. Robert Tyas, featuring twelve exquisite hand-colored botanical plates by James Andrews. This “Large Paper Edition, Revised” was published in London by Houlston and Wright and is beautifully bound in a fine 20th-century half morocco leather binding with marbled paper boards and endpapers.


Finely bound in green morocco over marbled boards, raised bands to spine, gilt tooling and lettering. Matching marbled endpapers. Gilt to all edges. Binding tight and professionally executed. A few pages with some wear yet mostly in near fine condition.

Inlcluded with  12 highly detailed and vibrantly hand-colored plates of English wildflowers. Each species described in a poetic and accessible manner, blending natural history with Victorian charm.
