An annual bound volume from The Floricultural Cabinet and Florist’s Magazine, one of the most admired horticultural periodicals of the early Victorian era. Conducted by noted gardener Joseph Harrison, these volumes celebrate the art and science of floriculture through essays, horticultural society reports, and exquisite hand-coloured botanical plates.

First issued in 1833, The Floricultural Cabinet captured the growing fascination with ornamental gardening and introduced readers to new plant species arriving from abroad. Each annual volume includes twelve monthly issues bound together, richly illustrated with hand-coloured engravings of flowers, fruits, and exotic plants, alongside cultivation notes and gardening advice.

Quarter bound in dark green calf with marbled paper boards and beautiful gilt floral decorations to spine. Red leather title labels lettered in gilt. Marbled page edges. Pastel endpapers. Illustrated with 13 hand-coloured botanical plates and engraved decorative title pages; with 2 of these being pull-out hand-painted illustrations.  Light wear and rubbing to boards and spine. Some minor foxing, else clean and bright throughout. Bookplate of William Frankland, Whitby to front pastedown. A tight, well-preserved example of this early Victorian botanical publication.
