A richly bound Victorian volume from the celebrated English Men of Letters series, featuring Leslie Stephen’s Swift, Austin Dobson’s Fielding, and H. D. Traill’s Sterne. This handsome copy is bound in full burgundy leather with a striking gilt armorial dragon crest stamped to the upper board. The spine is elaborately tooled in gilt with decorative floral and star motifs, raised bands, decorative dentelle and gilt titling.
The volume retains its luxury period features, including all edges marbled, marbled endpapers, and gilt dentelle turn-ins. A presentation label from Llandovery College, 1905 is mounted to the front pastedown, providing provenance.
Binding tight with light rubbing and a few surface marks to boards. Spine gilt bright. Pages clean. 176pp.
