These are first edition volumes, issued during the earliest years of this influential scientific periodical, which brought together contemporary research and observation across zoology, botany, mineralogy, geology, and meteorology.

The text is richly illustrated throughout with finely executed wood engravings—featuring detailed studies of birds, insects, marine life, botanical specimens, and fossils—capturing both the scientific curiosity and visual character of the early 19th century.

The volumes have been handsomely rebound in a later three-quarter calf binding over marbled boards, with raised bands, black morocco spine labels, and matching marbled edges. The rebinding is well executed and provides both structural integrity and an attractive, unified shelf presence.

Interiors are clean with light occasional foxing, very light occasional toning and occasional edge browning typical of the period. Profusely illustrated throughout. A well-preserved and cohesive set.
