A beautiful complete six-volume set of The Poetical Works of William Wordsworth, published in London by Edward Moxon in 1840. This handsome “New Edition” was issued during Wordsworth’s lifetime and presents his poetry in a remarkably elegant, compact Victorian library format.

Each volume is bound in original deep midnight blue leather to the spine and corners over richly marbled boards along with pastel marbled endpapers. The spines are decorated in gilt with climbing floral vines and brown leather title panels. Bottom of spines notes year “1840”. Gilt top edges with attached silk page markers. 

Very good condition. Bindings are tight and sound, and pages clean. There is light, faint foxing primarily to the preliminaries and page edges. Modest rubbing to spines in some places.
