John Milton (1608–1674) was an English poet and intellectual, best known for Paradise Lost, an epic exploring free will, divine justice, and the fall of man. A staunch advocate for liberty, he wrote on government, religion, and free speech, including Areopagitica. Despite losing his sight, he continued dictating works like Paradise Regained and Samson Agonistes. His literary and political legacy remains deeply influential.
