Myrtle Reed’s novel follows a newly married couple who inherit a New England home with conditions attached, along with an eccentric cast of relatives and guests. This first edition was published in New York and London by G. P. Putnam’s Sons in 1905, with printing by the Knickerbocker Press, as shown on the title page.
The beautiful lavender cloth binding features ornate gilt and blind-stamped decoration. The book cover design is by Margaret Armstrong. Gilt top edges. Rough-cut side/bottom edges.
Condition: Very Good There is a small, faint mark on the right side of the front board near the title (note photo). The front endpapers bear a previous owner’s handwritten name and ownership stamp.
