Very Rare Book. A memoir by the author as he resided in the White House for six months with this being his daily observations & experiences of Abraham Lincoln post the recent ending of the Civil War. The author was hired by the president to paint a portrait his portrait which still hangs in the White House today.
In a dark red cloth with gilt detail to spine, embossed detail to both boards, binding tight, clean pages, some foxing/tanning, 359pp. Very good antiquarian condition.
