The Old Curiosity Shop — Charles Dickens — Arundel Series Decorative Victorian Edition (c. 1880s–1890s)

A Victorian decorative edition of The Old Curiosity Shop, published by William L. Allison Company and issued as part of the collectible Arundel Series. This edition features the series’ classic ornate style—bound in vibrant cobalt blue cloth with black stamped ornamental scrollwork, a gilt title panel to the spine, and an elegant crest with swallows framed by a laurel wreath (“De Hirundine”).

Inside, the book opens with patterned Victorian endpapers, followed by Dickens’s text printed with decorative chapter initials and engraved ornamental chapter headpieces. A handsome 19th-century example of decorative American bookmaking and addition to any Dickens or Victorian classics shelf.

Sound, secure binding. Light rubbing to spine tips and corners. Gilt title label shows mild aging. Pages are evenly yellowed with age, but clean.
