This celebrated travel volume from the renowned A & C Black 20 shilling series features Kelly’s vivid descriptions of Burmese life, landscapes, and culture, accompanied by 75 full-page color plates from his paintings.

The binding is one of the most iconic of the publisher’s series: a rich crimson cloth with elaborate gilt and colored peacock design on the front board and spine, designed in true Art Nouveau style.

Original pictorial cloth binding with vivid & striking gilt-stamped and polychrome peacock motif. Spine gently faded. Gilt top edges. Frontispiece with captioned tissue guard. Illustrated with 75 color plates (including frontispiece) after paintings by R. Talbot Kelly, all with captioned tissue guards. Pull-out map in back of book. Binding tight. Clean pages.
