First published in 1796, the work was composed during Southey’s youth and underwent substantial revision in subsequent editions. This fourth edition was published in 1812, the year before Southey was appointed Poet Laureate.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eComplete in two volumes, the set is beautifully bound in \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003econtemporary half calf over marbled paper-covered boards, with leather corners\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e. The spines are richly decorated in gilt with floral and foliate devices, gilt rules, volume numbers and contrasting dark bands.
